I use grapheneos and it's open source. I can see all of the code. No reason why a simple 4chan app shouldn't be open source other than to steal your data or phone home to some telemetry server.

Never tried ReadChan, but Chance is pretty comfy. It's very customizable, but I think the best part is the dev funnily enough. You can ask him features, help with crashes, report bugs, and he'll always respond. When 4chan went down, the dev created containment threads there to hang out, pretty comfy.
