>tinkertranny
If you don't tinker, you're not really into tech. That just makes you a normie end user.

Anons who use that term are pathological shitposters, stewing in their own hatred and frustrations. I might not like the endless bickering over distros for example, but I'll just hide the threads instead of insulting everyone.

There's three basic classes of human
Consumers, who have no creativity at all and just exist
Tinkerers, who are curious about creativity but are not yet creative
Creatives, who actually create the world we live in

Tinkerers are somehow the most insecure class, because unlike consumers and creatives they're not satisfied with who they are. They spend their entire lives trying to prove how smart they are and how good they are at their job or interests, despite not actually being able to create things themselves

I never encountered the supposed bad ones here. However I did encountered passionless people who can only consoome and they are the biggest cancer here. I rather surround myself with other tinkerers or creators, no matter if they do it for the show or just because. It's always better than brainless consoomers who do not contribute anything and often hate on people who actually are passionate (probably jealousy)

Tinkertrannies are people who fuck with shit with no clear goal, end, product, result or even a learned experience to show for it.
Tinkering for the sake of the act is how you become a tinkertranny.

Personally I have no qualms with tinkering or changing something that you use everyday, but if more time is spent fucking with something then actually using it then you have a problem.

NTA, but your point doesn't make any sense. Reading programming books is not really popular among competent programmers. If you are not a retard, documentation or specification is all you really need. Programming books are often aimed at beginners and laymen. You are going to learn more things by looking at other people's projects and reading tech błogs, unironically.

people can be both, i'm not sure what this logic is where you can only be a creative if you create every single thing you encounter or use, and often times in order to create something better you have to tinker with what is already been created.
