There should be a company that sells a laptop that comes with contact pins in the hinge so you can close it and place it into a Nintendo Switch like dock and it will automatically charge the computer, extend to a monitor, contact a keyboard and mouse and improve thermal performance. Why hasn't anybody done this?

Literally every laptop manufacturer offers a dock. In the early aughts they had pins on the bottom of the computer that locked into place and were a notorious point of failure. New models just use USB-C to accomplish the same thing. The only idea you're offering is to put it on the hinge instead so the weight sits on it, like the old models did
