>>105947193Today I had a valid use of AI as art from an artist moment.
Someone mentioned how fun Morgan McSweeney must be at parties or imagine how it would feel to be trapped in a conversation with him at one.
My mind however chain of thought jumped to being trapped in an elevator with Morgan McSweeney for hours. My brain then rationalised how I would feel, how I would engage and it realised I'd probably have a hard time killing myself in there, so my next thought was can one self immolate through will alone.
And there it happened.
That panel of a guy with guys surround him, it cuts to his phone, how many guys can one guy take, it's google.
It's that comic, but it's me, in the elevator with Morgan McSweeney but the search query is "can one will oneself to self immolate in a matter of min-" and then it would cut off.
Is it a shit meme? Certainly. Is it something I'd draw if I still could, yes.
Is it art? You may not think so, but on a scale of satire, it's pretty high up there, it's a good injoke for those who would get it and it's a valid case where one could argue that using AI to create art through AI tools could be considered, real art. At the very least it qualifies for an artistic use of AI.
-but if you're going there. There's already weirdos who work with stable diffusion to do advanced gens they paint upon or manipulate. Some of them even graduated to being used in conspiracy theories against the artists will.
However, for your argument about photography and the technical requirements. One can also produce technically sound work as a portraiture artist without artistic merit too: see corposlop, wedding & commercial photography.
