They're generally not powerful enough to run CAD software/Video editors/Photo editors/DAW software, and most games that bitch about anticheat will run poorly even on a gaming laptop.
If you really do need portable CAD, photo editing or video/music production, you're generally gonna have a better experience on a Macbook, and for day to day usage, light gaming or light productivity, there's really no downside to using Linux (A Macbook works for this too, but is a bit overkill).

Mainly the fact that the laptop probably already comes with windows, so you can just install an LTSC iso and won't have to find any drivers.
If you're not using any heavy software and not playing vidya then there's no downside to just using windows, either.

I use Windows on my work machine because we're a "Microsoft shop" and "we use Microsoft tools." I struggle to think of a reason to use Windows other than "convenience" but that is becoming less and less compelling as time goes on.

I wouldn't. And frankly, I don't think you should be using that kind of language. This is a serious technology forum.

The downside would be putting up with MS's bullshit for none of the benefit (Software availability). I began thinking about this because I use Windows on desktop due to editing videos for a living, but been running Fedora on my laptop for 5 years without once ever thinking "Man, I want to run XYZ but can't".

I'm not fishing for rage reactions, any choice in OS means with putting up with someone's bullshit. My argument is that specifically regarding laptops, Windows loses all upsides while keeping all downsides; While Linux loses most downsides while keeping all upsides, and MacOS more or less stays the same (I'm not even an Apple shill, I genuinely see desktop Macs as a retarded purchase)

there is no equivalent to macs

macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when pajeetOS runs out of RAM it swapfile rapes the SSD to death within 3 years
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when the SSD dies it bricks your entire currybook because the EFI is stored on the soldered SSD to save $0.05
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>components serial numbered and tied to the motherboard to prevent repair and replacement (including battery)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>riveted keyboard that requires total destruction of the chassis to replace
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>flexgate cables that are so brittle they crack from opening your screen past 90 degrees more than 2 dozen times
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screens so fucking shit they have over 90ms response times (essentially 10Hz)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>screen made from pajeet trash glass that cracks from temperature change in seasons or tape over the iBotnet webcam
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>so fire and explosion prone the FAA have banned them from all flights
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>uses phone CPU that's so shit it gets destroyed by decade old i3s from 2017 and can only "compete" by cheating at benchmarks in extreme edge cases with hardware accelerators
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>curryniggers at apploo get so full of sniffing their own currynigger silicon shit they ship currybooks with no fans and they run so hot they melt the keyboard keys
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs

>keyboards with 63.5% failure rate
unheard of on PCs, and yet you curryniggers defend it with "jus werx fer me!"
just because you're in the 36.5% survivor group doesn't make your currynigger trash any good
this list goes on forever
there's no PC laptop as total fucking currynigger shit as crapple's streetshitter books
they are the biggest heaps of steaming currynigger shit in the history of computing second only to curryPhones

Microsoft and Apple are largest supporters of LGBT. Using Chromium browsers like proprietary Brave that doesn't have reproducible binaries, Windows 7, 8.1, 10, 11 doesn't matter what version, macOS, iPhone etc. you force LGBT to other people and make LGBT stronger. These two proprietary corporations have long-standing support for LGBTQ+ communities, with key milestones:

Microsoft
>1989: Added "sexual orientation" to its non-discrimination policy.
>1993: Among the first major companies to offer domestic partner benefits to same-sex couples.
>2005: Publicly opposed a Washington state bill banning same-sex marriage.

Apple
>1988: Prohibited discrimination based on sexual orientation (under Steve Jobs).
>1993: Extended benefits to same-sex partners of employees.
>2014: Tim Cook publicly came out as gay, becoming the first openly gay CEO of a Fortune 500 company.

Both companies now actively participate in Pride events, fund LGBTQ+ initiatives, and promote inclusive policies globally. Only thing to make LGBT weaker is to use white Finnish first world Linux.
