How are all the self taught devs and career shifters in tech doing at the moment? Thinking about starting a youtube channel to sell them lies to get more of those into tech to lower the salaries even more. Software eats the world, isn't it kek?

I found it difficult to find a job, from what I gathered I need a degree (any degree, not even software related) for most projects.

I just ended up creating an LLC with my also self taught girlfriend. Note that was only possible because she found a customer and we ended up signing a contract. The upside of that is I get total freedom of action.

The fun thing is that the company we do a project for is 100% female. Hell, the project itself is aimed at women only. Though you can imagine how difficult it can be working in all-female environment. That's why my GF does the talking and I code.

I dropped out of real engineering and now work as a platform "eng", mainly with on-prem terraform/kubernetes.
I'm practically printing money, but I'm also cut from a different cloth, a cut above everyone else in fact.

Not income related, but I have dozens of cameras & microphones monitoring a warehouse I own in town, near where homeless addicts & drug dealers live. I got tired of manually compiling reports & footage so I pay some kid to watch it & report crimes to the cops. The local homeless/junkie/dealer/bipoc population has declined by 30% since I started.
