depends how many PCIE lanes the CPU has. the main selling point of server CPUs is that they have a shit ton of PCIE lanes. The 14900x has 20 PCIE lanes, whereas AMD Epyc processors have 128. A single 5090 needs 16 PCIE lanes to run at full speed.
