why doesn't it have an ambient light sensor and adjust automatically like phones have been doing for decades?
i have to either use third party tools to manually set the brightness or use a clunky OSD menu with 15 key presses to change brightness

no wonder dark mode is so popular because you can't easily just turn down the brightness at night so instead people had to reinvent a whole new design paradigm

i'm actually on the 2nd floor of my house with giant windows, so during the day have to have max brightness with light mode, and then i have room lighting automated to go ambient warm at sunset, and that's when i want to turn it down but i hate doing it manually every time
yes i'm going to write a script to automate this as soon as i finish this rant, but this shit should just be basic built in functionality

This is why my future monitors will be LG 42" TVs to use with ColorControl. Easy keyboard shortcuts for different screen profiles. Never fucking with shitty OSDs again.

almost every monitor supports ddc/ci brightness control
no need to buy an lg tv for that, buy an ad.

# Daytime, the room is well lit from the sun outside
# Set brightness to 90
ddcutil setvcp 10 90

# Night time, the sun is down and the room is lit by some soft lights
# Set brightness to 50
ddcutil setvcp 10 50

now make a script on a timer or something or a manual toggle shortcut to manually change it. easy.

benq monitors have a built-in ambient light sensor. and nothing stops you from building your own sensor that would automatically control the brightness of your screen. there's probably some solutions that already exist on the market.

That's still limited compared to what ColorControl can do unless DDC/CI can actually change color profiles, audio outputs, refresh rate, etc. Also do you know of any software that can do those changes when I launch a certain game/app?

>change color profiles
no use case
>audio outputs
the fuck do you even mean by this, why are you using your tv... to switch audio outputs
>refresh rate
manually changing refresh rate on a VRR monitor/tv is completely useless and counterproductive

Fucking niggercattle ColorControl is almost certainly implemented *with* DDC/IC, like every other manufacturer specific display control software out there.

And DDC/IC has been feature in monitors SINCE FUCKING CRTS. Virtually all monitors made in the last 25 years can have most of their settings changed using DDC/IC. Definitely the brightness.

>Also do you know of any software that can do those changes when I launch a certain game/app?
Fucking windows users

I change color profiles every day for HDR and web browsing. I swap audio outputs to my TWS when the neighbors are being too loud. I change refresh rate caps for games that have problems with VRR flicker.

>>105969297
I doubt it is because it does things that seem to go beyond the scope of DDC/IC and you link it via network and not through HDMI
