Przemysław “Psyho” Dębiak, a 42-year-old programmer from Gdynia, Poland, made history by defeating OpenAI’s custom AI model at the AtCoder World Tour Finals (AWTF) 2025 "Humans vs AI" contest in Tokyo. Considered one of the most prestigious coding tournaments in the world, the AWTF invites just 12 of the top-ranked human programmers—and, for the first time, an AI competitor—to tackle its grueling challenges. After a 10-hour coding marathon, Dębiak edged out the AI by roughly 9.5%, clinching first place while the OpenAI-built model settled for second.

Billions spent and loses to Poland Boomer

Fix your sleep and look away from the monitor more. You blink much less when focused on one.

Ok, not trying to discredit the guy but this could be a marketing strategy. If it had beaten the human now nobody would be paying attention. But now that a human defeated an alleged(we know its not) coding expert AI(its also not AI), the next event will have much more publicity, with people rooting for another win, so they can use the event to promote their "better than humans AI"(we know its bullshit now and will be bullshit then).
