Should I get the AirPods Pro 2 or Sony XM4 for around the same price?

My XM4 pair had weird audio imbalance issues, my old AirPods work great

Honestly, really just depends what you value out of them. I daily drive CH720Ns and they're good enough for me, noise cancelling isn't the best but for the price point they're steller, same with quality. A few of my friends have used govt loopholes as college students and have gotten XM4s and XM5s and honestly, I wouldn't pay full price for either. Just personally speaking, the quality is good, but I could get so much more out of my 500$ CAD.

As for the airpods I find they're a little more lacking than they're hyped up to be, especially given the price, and I also don't care too much for the Apple walled garden. That and earbuds irritate me after a couple hours tops whereas even my ATH M40X's could last me hours on end.

Personally I'd say the XM4s especially if you're getting them cheap, they're industry leading for a reason, but if you don't mind earbuds and can already integrate a lot of Apple stuff into your life than go for the Airpods

Why not both? you can wear the Sonys over the Airpods.

i wouldn't buy the airpods pro 2 if you use multiple icloud accounts for whatever reason.

Both pretty good, XM4s are way better at blocking out travel noise compared to my airpods pro 1 I got years ago, but maybe pro 2s are better with that.

I personally went with airpods pro 2 over any over-ears purely for comfort and I'm glad I did
Easier to carry around outside too

AirPods if you need them for running / gym.
Sony’s if you need them for travelling / library / working.

I'd argue the Sony's are better for that, my AirPods always fall out if I go running.

what form factor do you want? there's no objective "better" when things like earbuds/headphones are personal and relevant to your circumstances

Doesn't seem to stop those chicks in their early 20s that go running with them.

I got both airpods and maxes, airpods are better for every situation. Easy to carry, easy to wear and waterproof.
Headphones make you fear that your sweat will them and they're not comfortable.

Are you using pro’s? And if so the right cushion size?

Been running with AirPods Pro for years never once has one fallen out.

Yeah I've got first gen pros and the fit is good, they just seem to slide out quickly if I go running. Anything slow or stationary is usually fine.

I own both
AirPods have good sound quality and are great for gym use , buy a clip to hold in place for running or when you get too sweaty.
XM4 for everything else , I even use them for gaming and mic quality is way better than AirPods
