The problem with AUR is you archniggers use it as official project repo.
AUR is secure as PPA in Ubuntu. The difference is everyone knows PPA is not trustworthy.

it was in the AUR, not the official repos
nothing was compromised, it was a new package someone made that didn't affect users of any legitimate packages

also, this is why pacman doesn't support the AUR, you have to go out of your way to use it, no different to PPA's. you cannot accidentally use the AUR

what was compromised? they uploaded new packages. can't even be called typosquatting or slopsquatting given their names. maybe updootersquatting.

they were removed within 4 days as well. there was a wayback snapshot which showed it was uploaded 4 days before the thread the other day talking about it, but why which point it had been deleted.

I legitimately wonder why people make threads like these. My assumptions on what it could be make me feel empathy in a bad way.

It's one guy that's been spamming these threads for the past two days. It was funny at first but now it's just sad

I assume it's some kind of attention seeking, but I wish I knew more details. The psychology of it interests me.
Like what's going on in their life that's so bad that they have to do things like this. Is this a kind of distraction like in escapism. It makes me wonder why people post like this.

I'd bet $10 it's the same pajeet who created the malware and was advertising it on Reddit, and is now having a melty because it got nuked before he had a chance to pwn anyone's machine. I can't explain this obsession otherwise.

>any deb or rpm package
There are tons of compromised deb and rpm packages.
They're just not in the official repos, but then the AUR isn't the official distro repo, either.

pkgbuild files are easy to read , if you cant be bothered to check the source before installing, you deserve malware.
