Now that the dust has settled,
Was there anything wrong with TrueCrypt?

Or did the glowies just want to spread a rumor that there was, to get people to stop using it

The french ANSSI certified the v7.1a back in 2013.
It's probably too old to be used anymore.

They never certified any other version afaik

A prof. started the
>let's audit truecrypt
campaign:
https://blog.cryptographyengineering.com/2013/10/14/lets-audit-truecrypt/
which quickly raised more money than the truecrypt project ever did, to hire some consulting firm that released a .pdf where they picked the nits of the TC devs, criticizing some naming and organization of things, but overall not finding anything.
So the TC devs got burnt out and walked away.
