those of you who spent a considerable amount of time on linux but ended up switching back to windows, what was the main reason behind this?

I've been daily driving nobara (not sure why i chose it) for almost a year i think, but every once in a while i feel like switching back to windows due to some random program that does not work with wine. the thing is that i've gotten way too used to bash and my current DE, so i think it would be a harder transition than when i switched to linux for the first time lmao.

I have a third PC for gaymz that runs Windows 7 and I dropped Git Bash in there via VxKex to make it just usable.

I used linux from 2016 to 2022. Used almost every mainstream linux distro on real hw (more or less autistic ones). I switched back to windows 10 and eventually back to 7. For me it was:
- inferiority of linux software (even when compared to windows 7 software)
- mindbroken linux community (endless wars about system components, narcistic faggots like ebussy telling me how I can use my own computer, literal commiepedotroons like devault etc)
- constant push to 24/7 internet connection (this applies to both modern windows and linux).

Initially transitioned because software I needed for control design is Windows only. Now I would only consider Linux for old hardware. LTSC of course
Just dual boot if you're so indecisive.
>bash
Just learn PowerShell. Very refreshing after the 70sshit that is bash and every other mainstream Linux shell. Or just install bash.

The biggest flaw about linux distros is the lack of hardware & driver support. I couldn't get my scanner & music equipment to work properly on it since there is no support for Traktor & NI controllers. Then when I got my scanner to work it had limited features. I had to switch back to Win10 afterwards.

I ate up most of the weird bugs and limitations up until I needed to play a coop game with a friend (I rarely game) and while the game worked fine, I alt-tabbed to search something on google and instead the game would just get stuck flickering and essentially soft-lock my computer until I log out or restart.
it's such a shitty thing that just goes to show how little care goes into any aspect of the gnu/linux stack and I prefer to use a spyware operating system than subject myself to a toy operating system in a daily basis

Ubuntu stopped recognizing my headphones. I probably could have fixed it, but why even bother. Installing Windows 10 was probably the quickest solution. Just make sure to disable all telemetry and its a pretty decent os

As you can see you won't find many people who did that, only low effort people. Congratulations.

I dual booted Linux mint and windows on my laptop and had several distros on USB but I go back to windows because I produce music and everything else I do doesn't really require Linux desu.
