If Linux is so great, then why does Windows have better software?

microjew is literally trying to sell a product that they themselves know is inferior, but retards like OP fall for it.
gnuPlusLinux is objectively superior than windowsPlusNt

There are many more users on desktop Windows, as such there is much greater interest in desktop software on Windows.

>>105985565
This kind of mouthbreather behavior is the exact reason desktop Linux is always up-and-coming and never actually here. They think an OS that's appropriate for hosting cloud servers is the exact same thing as an OS that's appropriate for desktop use. This is exactly why the desktop market is divided between Windows and Mac.

If Valve weren't putting in the work into Linux to get video games running on the thing and to make it somewhat more appropriate as an OS people actually interact with directly on GUI devices, there would be no hope whatsoever.

this. Linux for desktop use is a mess and troubleshooting is hell. Not sure why multi millionaire YT creators are so hell bent on pushing the masses away from windows. Windows simply gets the job done. I have never had to visit a stupid forum and deal with dumb answers such as "works on my Maschine" or copy random stuff with elevated privileges into the terminal. Windows just werks and the license is dirt cheap (2.99 W10, upgradeable to w11 for free) and it saves you alot of headache down the line. Telemetry and other unwanted shit can also be removed with third party tools on github. I srsly don't see reason to use Linux on desktop other than mental illness, extreme masochism, or just being broke as fuck.

Everything works as expected with little tinkering on my machine. If you're not trying to hack the fucking gibson this is the case with modern Linux. The exception is when you have hardware too new to be supported, or you're trying to do something weird. You fags always insist on the existence of schrodinger's user. Simultaneously a total normie yet trying to compile and install drivers for niche hardware. You are completely and utterly full of shit.

With windows you have all documentation/references needed in one place, there are multiple levels of graphics/ UI APIs which if used work on very majority of windows machines, although if aiming for <10, then need to use older APIs as <10 cant deal with for example HDR and other stuff latest APIs have mandatory support with. Combined with VS & msbuild pipeline, it offers piss easy platform to make software on.

That's what I was getting to. There's no safety net. The filesystem inside the LUKS container must be shrunk first, with precise alignment, and then cryptsetup-reencrypt has to (as you'd guess) encrypt everything again in-place. Can't be done online, either.

Deepseek's answer is incomplete.

This is the first time I hear about this. Anyway, tools are there, and they're well documented, if someone is a retard it's his problems. Retards on Windows are also ending up with their bitlocker partition asking for recovery key.

It's more fool-proof there because the key is generally uploaded to your M$ account. And it no longer requires a password for the vast majority of people (W11 = TPM and Secure Boot = passwordless Bitlocker).

Linux already won.

>Your car runs Linux
>Your phone runs Linux (or iDevices use the XNU kernel which Steve Jobs said in a keynote is "the same as Linux")
>Your kid's Chromebook runs Linux
>Your router runs Linux
>Your Smart TV runs Linux
>Many game consoles now run Linux (SteamOS/Bazzite plus Emulator Handhelds)
>Billions of IoT devices use Linux.
>Don't forget FreeBSD as well which runs millions of Playstations and Switches plus delivers you netflix.
>Windows has WSL and Rust and of 97.5% of browsers use KDE tech for rendering.
>Microsoft's GitHub used tech invented by Linus Torvalds Himself

Windows may have an app niche and gets more hits on Statcounter (a spyware that parses "Windows" or "Linux" in your user agent), but it has penguin tentacles all over it.

bullshit redhat have been putting loads of effort into linux userspace many companies have a vested interest in linux as a developer platform and that requires it being usable as a desktop os, wayland doesnt exist because of valve, gnome doesnt exist because of valve

all valve did was make games work automatically through dxvk, something entirely irrelevant to most people who need a desktop OS

Absolute and total BULLSHIT, Nvidia+Wayland is completely fine on modern GPUs. Gnome and Hyprland are prime examples. I game on hyprland with a 3080 and have been doing so for a year.

Red Hat is putting "effort" in having their fist around the FOSS community's throat
Wayland is an unholy mess of extremely retarded design and GNOME is the worst DE by far, that looks like it was designed by idiots who thought Windows 8 was a good idea.

Valve is paying people to work on KDE and is at least making an attempt to unfuck Wayland and to actually get something done.

to be fair, I genuinely thing gnome is the best distro for popularizing linux amongst the normies. It's very similar to smsrtphones and smart tablet design.
Not for me, but I'm glad it exists because it's one more important ingredient for creating a retard proof OS that the average human can use.

rather, ask yourself: why don't more software companies develop for linux systems?

the answer is: money. most people use a windows PC or Mac and that's where the money is. Say about Valve what you want, but they are making Linux a viable system for a lot of people who just want to watch youtube and play vidya aka a large group of PC users

it's just that Microsoft got in it's foot into companies pretty early. people that have to use Windows at work would rather get a windows PC, because that's what's familiar to them.
