What was intended with the vram push on media with gaming gpus? Most games use less than 6gb Vram, they hardly ever use 8k+ vram on 2k, heck there is even an option to offload vram load to system's ram. Why were the masses entranced to think like this?

It's because NVIDIA and AMD want you to buy the latest graphics card so they get developrs to use excessive amounts of RAM like the Oblivion Remaster which requires at least 40 GBs of RAM when including system and video together whilst looking like shit, because if everyone has a GPU that can play every modern release for the next decade or so, then they'll get less and less money every year.
