VBA for Ms Office is a skill that is likely to get you work - Excel and Word are used everywhere and anyone who can automate it will always be in demand. SQL>Export to CSV>VBA>Excel paid my bills for many years.

/g has a lot of people who get too focused in technology and not focused on making $$$. The best language is the one someone is willing to pay you to program in. I used to get paid to maintain .bat and Powershell scripts as well

VBA was my first programming language and it really put me off, then I started learning C and python and realized VBA was just a bit of a clusterfuck
Can definitely do some cool things in there but some complicated scripts can be done with pandas in a few lines instead

VBA is old school but can make you look like a wizard in enterprise environments. The actual lack of skills in corporate IT shops can be amazing
