Did you like slot load or tray load drives more?

I wish I had a caddy load drive but those didn't last very long in the market.

Tray because I always worried loaders were scratching the disc. IIRC some of the consoles even did.

YOU DID AT ONE POINT, I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN THIS.

Also my PC still has an optical drive. Replacing 5.25" bays with fans is faggotry.

Wii is slot-loading and supports both.

Tray loaders are easier to maintain since you just have to usually change the belt if it stops ejecting properly.

Slot loaders have a lot of moving parts that make troubleshooting them when they stop eating discs properly a chore.

i think the best is you open the top and put it in that way.
But if its just slot vs tray load?
i like slot because you just insert it and it does the rest, but more i think there are more moving parts thus more potential points of failure. thinking again. perhaps tray load is the best. Menial exposure of the scanning lens. Maybe less moving parts than the slot load.
tl;dr.

slot load is the most enjoyable when it works.
top load is the best but, i think it exposes the lens an dust can affect it? i really don't know
tray load its okay, you have to place you disk on the tray then close the tray.

Top-loaders just look cheap, is what I thought, that's it. No moving parts doesn't make it feel "high-tech" so such an idea never caught on for consumer electronics outside of video games and CD players (where it's really more about practicality than any effort to look like a sophisticated piece of equipment). You're not "inserting" the disc, you're opening a cheap-looking plastic lid on a hinge and sticking the disc onto a basic spindle then slamming it shut.
