I've had some weird game related problems on Ubuntu in the past, so I went to protonDB and apparently Ubuntu users has the same problem as me, and the problems are ONLY ON UBUNTU.

Filter by Ubuntu, and you will see that users has problems with Infinite load.

Same problem on deep rock galactic, incredibly slow load times.

The funny thing is, distros built on ubuntu like mint and others don't have these problems.

What is going on with Ubuntu?

Are you actually trying the fixes they post and using GE instead of the bog standard proton valve provide?

Sure, but it still boggles the mind that you don't need to go through such hoops on other Ubuntu distros like Mint, Zorin, Pop and more

It's likely just due to the fact that they are using the Steam snap package.
You can install steam via apt and probably not have the same issues

I'll be honest, it's a fucking miracle these games run at all.

This. If you're on (k)ubuntu, just delete all the snap shit. The snap steam is actually worthless. Snap firefox is unusable and lags because of containerisation.

I hear people say Snap is bad but doesn't Ubuntu quality check their own app ecosystem? Why does it have these problems then

Most snap packages are pretty good.
Steam has improved a lot in the last year or two, but some games will still have issues from time to time. It is not the easiest application to containerize.

One part about snaps is that there aren't nearly as many snap versions as flatpaks. Heroic Launcher is not a snap and that makes me sad

Not really true.
Snap has CLI tools and a lot of server stuff.
Flatpak has more stuff for the desktop.

Steam manages itself, so not at all
