I download my anime from Nyaa.si, I used to stream back in the day but then I noticed the difference in quality between streaming sites and torrented versions so I fully switched to downloading also the typesetting and being able to choose what subtitles you want to use is nice.

Ever since I saw that image I switched to mpv

I don't use twitter so I don't care about this bullshit. I use mpv and MPC-HC because they work. I don't use VLC because it's shit. It's as simple as that.

I test my shit in mpv and mpc-hc before distro. I make an effort to still support MPC-HC for windows users because it's better on Windows. On Linux it's no contest. I don't test in VLC because I assume it's broken by default. Since it has been broken by default since as long as I can remember.

The mpv IRC is retarded and the general is cancer. I don't care. If they ever get so annoying or try to add something like Rust to it I'll fork it myself.

Streaming used to be worse so part of this is boomer posting, me included.
The current use case for me personally is being able to watch and upscale older anime as it plays on my pc, I also have it set up to easily save and clip stuff I'm watching.

I never stream. What's the point of streaming when you can download whole seasons from nyaa.si and such and it will download in an hour or less? You can add multiple series to queue and it will download whole season before you end watching 2/3 episodes of another one and not impact your player, because it's offline. You can download an older series in higher quality or one that is missing on streaming sites. You have good quality encodes with good quality subs. You have native performance with your player settings, keybinds, plugins, filters, shaders (upscaling, sharpening etc). You can watch something when your internet goes down. There are no pros to streaming, it's inferior in all aspects.
