Now that GNU/Linux and in particular Arch and Hyprland are becoming mainstream due to being genuinely good software, what contrarian stance will we /g/tards flee to? What’s still broken, buggy, and featureless that we can pretend to be superior by using?

Just like nigger above said, Artix or returning to the grassroots and making Gentoo great again, however I would welcome some radical shit like LFS

i'll make the list for you (from most mainstream to least):
freebsd + xorg or wayland
musl/linux + xorg or wayland
openbsd + xenocara
netbsd + xorg
these do not use x or wayland:
haiku
reactos
serenityos

you'll probably want to jump to openbsd for now, and later haiku or something

are you seriously pretending that Arch is good and that the past memes about it were facetious? the problems that lead to the malware in AUR have been warned about for more than a decade on /g/ and any problems like easily breaking one's system were always met with "install gentoo" which was valid albeit heavy-handed criticism.

Nah, Arch and Hyprland are still not that popular among normies. People are shilling Fedora and Fedora Atomic to normies instead of Arch Linux these days. Hyprland is only popular among the ricing jeets but it is still nowhere near as infested by normies like GNOME is.

The popular mainstream choice is still Fedora + GNOME. Arch + Hyprland will keep filtering out normies because of their DIY nature.

That’s pretty mainstream but I think stock Ubuntu + gnome dwarfs the usage of any other distro/de combination.

The U in AUR stands for user. That means you. If you upload malware there, that's on you.

And then you install Fedora Silverblue have a bleeding edge base system that cannot ever break and it gives you acccss to Archs packages including the Aur to Ubuntu Debian packages and to Nix packages and anything you can imagine.
