I can understand why the Empire replaced battle droids with stormtroopers for PR and strategic reasons to create jobs. I can even believe the clones were better foot soldiers than the droids. But what in the hell are they doing with the fighters? The general public isn't interacting with starfighters and pilots. The droid star fighters had shields and were much more advanced than TIE fighters. They'd be far superior in their G-force tolerance and aiming weapons. Space combat with low velocity blasters is simple enough that it doesn't matter droids are stupider than humans; they can be retarded faster than humans enough to overwhelm them.

Maybe kyber crystals for lightsabers are actually rare, because they have to be a certain size, thus super expensive and rare. Whereas kyber powder is super easy to get, thus super cheap to use as a fuel.

It's akin to gems and diamonds, where little pieces are worth pratically nothing compared to some fist sized piece.
