What's the point of using it and calling it free when it's not really free for commercial use? Isn't this the same thing AdWare companies used to do?

Is this real? I just started programming and was thinking of using QT for my first real project.

You don't need to publish source code if you only use the LGPL libraries

If it's free, why do I still have to give you money? If you put a couch out on the curb for people to take away for free, then I clean it up, patch up some holes, and throw in some pillows, and I sell it to someone for money, why should you have the right to come back and demand I give you some of my profits?

I don't like the whole "some parts commercial some parts non-commercial" thing and I haven't looked up the pricing model they use, but grow the fuck up anon.

>maintain extremely complex and ever evolving cross platform graphical API to a very high standard
>expect them to do it entirely for free

Faggot behaviour, just use a FOSS alternative instead of bitching about people wanting money for hard work

>some parts commercial some parts non-commercial
Everything can be commercial but some components are GPL3 so if you can't share the source, you can buy non gpl3 license.

This is the whole reason why GNOME was built
Overarching license restrictions will create competition against nonfree products

Cause the couch is an inert piece of shit that requires nothing from anyone but two people, it's owner and whom is trying to sell it. Qt is a massive attack surface that needs to be looked upon and maintained among multiple different operating systems, that means hiring people with obnoxious to get domain specific knowledge to find and fix security bugs and then add more features or refactor old code safely. If only this thing was limited to Opensores garage projects. But Qt is used by a massive amount of internal propietary tooling and comercial products interacting with sensitive data and critical systems like airports.
