I agree that HDR ia an overrated meme but your monitor probably isn't displaying it properly for one reason or another.

hdr is fantastic and allows you to keep luminescence even with low brightness.

Okay, then why does the contrast reduce when I turn it on? My screen becomes more gray and there's less contrast between the colors, the brightness lowers too

Then your screen does HDR wrong. Normally games let you calibrate

Did you fall for the ""HDR""400 scam? Did you really get tricked into thinking LCDs could do HDR?
Share us your monitor at least, fucking faggot OP.

Anon you must pay more to get the goy feature for goys with more money than brain, so you are allowed to see the full range of colors.

There should be a separate slider or some other config option to turn up SDR brightness (aka normal/non-HDR content brightness)

You're even dumber than OP. Bandwidth can't affect color saturation, these are digital monitors.
What OP is observing is ENTIRELY expected behavior. With HDR enabled, sRGB content is supposed to look like sRGB content, regardless how wide the color gamut the monitor has natively. That's kind of the whole point of HDR.
Either OP is a faggot retard and thinks radioactive oversaturated colors are good, with complete disregard to color accuracy, or his monitor isn't actually wide gamut and tone mapping desaturates sRGB too much.

It would be useful if the faggot retard OP told us what his monitor is. But considering he hasn't done that in 6 hours, this is probably just a spam bait thread.

Literally none of these niggers know how to tell you that HDR literally only applies to content with HDR.
It's the same on Windows because both Windows and Linux (and probably also Apple) pajeets don't know how to program the desktop to work for HDR.

>glaze
I'm going to need my first colonoscopy in just a few short years and I don't have kids of my own. What do you mean by "glaze" here?
