I have recently gotten into media ripping/archiving as a hobby. I like buying old CD'S/Floppy Discs from ebay and reading them or opening them.

Also buying some old CD/Floppy games and archiving them. I'm using an external enclosure hooked up to USB, but I got a greaseweasle that would allow me to put my floppy directly to a sata port on my mobo.

I'm deciding whether or not I want to put my optical/floppy drive on my main workstation on my desk, or if I should put it on my server rack with my server pc.

Where do you think it makes more sense? I'll have to buy another case either way. I like have my ITX case on my desk but maybe I should just move to an old mATX pc case.

put it where it makes most sense in terms of physical manipulation no? like you won't want to be walking back and forth between rooms changing disks all the time

Wherever is most convenient. If you have to go out of your way to rip media it'll slow you down.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, my server is in the same room so I doesn't really matter, but if I move or change things in the future ill probably want it on my main pc
