You get used to the pipewire crackling at some point.
Pulseaudio worked better for me.

Why the fuck does this happen? I might as well use it instead of pulseaudio since I have it installed for screenshare anyway.

Just use alsa.
You can use dmix.
Zoomer.

Bet you hate Richard Matthew Stallman for being "a pedo" too. Get the FUCK off our OS then. He made the free C compiler.
>>"The nominee is quoted as saying that if the choice of a sexual partner were protected by the Constitution, "prostitution, adultery, necrophilia, bestiality, possession of child pornography, and even incest and pedophilia" also would be. He is probably mistaken, legally--but that is unfortunate. All of these acts should be legal as long as no one is coerced. They are illegal only because of prejudice and narrowmindedness."

Why is EVERYTHING on Linux so bad? Even its name makes no sense. Bill Gates didn't call Windows "Bilx" because he's not a narcissistic retard.

linus didn't name linux after himself. he originally wanted to call it "freax", but the guy who put it on the public ftp server called it linux and it stuck

because you use PulseAudio.

Disable that and then use Alsa. Suddenly everything is good and easy.

Pipewire fixed all of issues with sound, just make sure you buy the correct gear when it comes to production there are drivers that work and the devices are solid and not overly expensive

also, even if he did, it'd still not the same, since windows was made by a company aimed at consumers. linux started as a hobby os and linus didn't intend it to take off like it did. it just happened to be the right project (a free kernel compatible with gnu tools) at the right time (when gnu's kernel was struggling to get off the ground)

actually having another look it seems he did consider "linux", but it doesn't change what i wrote, really it reinforces the idea that linus wasn't narcissistic
>Linus Torvalds had wanted to call his invention Freax, a portmanteau of "freak", "free", and "x" (as an allusion to Unix). During the start of his work on the system, he stored the files under the name "Freax" for about half of a year. Torvalds had already considered the name "Linux," but initially dismissed it as too egotistical.
>In order to facilitate development, the files were uploaded to the FTP server (ftp.funet.fi) of FUNET in September 1991. Ari Lemmke, Torvald's coworker at the Helsinki University of Technology (HUT) who was one of the volunteer administrators for the FTP server at the time, did not think that "Freax" was a good name. So, he named the project "Linux" on the server without consulting Torvalds. Later, however, Torvalds consented to "Linux".

Had Mint 20 cinnamon edition installed on an old laptop.

I could stream with obs with no audio issues.
Installed Mint 22 cinnamon on the same laptop.
All of a sudden, audio glitches out when streaming over OBS or when using monitor of built in analog stereo. Only difference I can see is that mint 22 comes with Pipewire where I used ALSA/PulseAudio before.

How can I fix this, gentlemen?

When I do this I can only have one audio source at a time otherwise it breaks. ALSA works great if you're only doing one thing, but you couldn't for example listen to a podcast while playing a game.

except it is. In 2025 and my Bluetooth headphones stops working if I stop playing audio for a couple of seconds. I have to then disable and reenable the Bluetooth adapter and repair the headphones for them to work. Disabling sleep and other power saving settings do nothing. From the logs I gathered it seems that the issue is simply with either the Bluetooth driver or Bluetoothctl; as far as the system is concerned, the device is still connected and working properly, as well as pipewire is still handling audio properly. The same headphones on the same hardware works flawlessly on Windows.

Thats... not an audio problem. Thats a bluetooth problem. Now, I will admit, bluetooth fucking sucks on linux. It's far better than it was a few years ago. I dual boot, if I use my earbuds on windows I always have to repair them on linux. Requires me removing them from my trusted bluetooth devices, entering pairing mode, and searching.
But the audio quality? The same as windows.

The only problem both windows and linux has, is that when devices poll your headset for a microphone it activates the low-quality hands-free mode. On windows it changes back reliably, on linux it wouldn't consistently go back to the high-fidelity audio mode. I think I ended up having to tweak 1 line in a config file, but it would be nice if I could have just gone into device manager and removed that feature like on windows.

My desktop has similar issues. Runs Windows 11, not even dual booted. Meanwhile my shitty laptop runs Arch and everything just werks. 99% of Linux sound issues are just from losing the driver lottery.

it sucks because no one can agree on a standard. if i open a DAW which uses Jack or ALSA (i don't even know) i cannot play anything with audio on firefox because it's on Pulseaudio
