The point is not that you leave retina prints in real life, it's that the retina allows them to create a digital profile that links all of your activity across all sites into one real world identifiable packet.

It's just a harder to defeat ID linking mechanism.
Google tracks you, and Cloudflare, and all the rest, but you can use proxies, change user agents and other fingerprinting stuff, your IP rolls over, stuff lik ethat, but this is probably running on some kind of trusted platform hardware and takes an image of something that is unique to you and can't be changed.
They could also push for computers to run on trusted hardware platforms and implement a KYC on purchasing them, I think that would be harder to enforce with all of the existing hardware out here though and how it would requirement government input rather than companies refusing your business.
