>>106023690 (OP) major absolute humongoulsy enormous security fail
i wouldnt buy either a BT or a wifi board and some boards do come with wifi btw

>>106023690 (OP) I don't think that's a standard. Just because you've got different things running on a 2.4Ghz frequency radio doesn't mean you can connect any device to any dongle. I don't think there's anything they can put in a device to work with everything.
>>106023690 (OP) It's included you fucking dingus. Either you're buying potatos or you're the retarded potato. gtfo my board.

>>106024196 >>106023690 (OP) Yep. Its not standard. I have multiple 2.4Ghz mouse/keyboard and they all require different receivers. I think Logitech and others encrypt the 2.4Ghz channel with AES encryption.
>>106024196 >>106026675 >Just because you've got different things running on a 2.4Ghz frequency radio doesn't mean you can connect any device to any dongle sure you can? of course you have to implement the overlying network protocol of the device (which usually IS a standard)
if you can send and receive 2.4Ghz EM signals then you absolutely can communicate with other devices that also use that frequency for communication
>>106023738 Have you tried updating your drivers with SDIO? Windows is retarded and doesn't download every driver by itself

>>106023690 (OP) Those are usually NRF24 chip based dongles. It's an old, dirt cheap IC by Nordic Semi. It's usually running custom code and encoding, not a standard stack like BT or Wifi.

yeah it's called bluetooth
!!!except!!! the whole point of 2.4GHz dongles is that bluetooth doesn't sufficiently support their usecase so they create their own custom network protocol
>>106029348 >>106029458 forgot to mention, if you are genuinely looking to learn, you'll want to read up on IEEE 802.15.4

>>106029458 2.4g is plug and play, it doesnt require pairing, since the open band is supposed to allow any device to connect and use its protocol. the encryption was done because some dumb researchers tried to argue this was insecure as it allowed others to snoop. So they broke the 2.4g open protocol and companies created "proprietary" 2.4g that only worked on their device. Fucking hate that faggot

2.4G is just a frequency. It is used by many technologies. Bluetooth, wifi, wireless communications, microwaves. The 2.4G receiver your mouse or keyboard or controller is just using a portion of that frequency band, likely slightly offset from other devices, with a different protocol for authenticating and encoding data. Often times they have less latency than Bluetooth because of the limited protocol scope resulting in less overhead.
