Ah, I had one of these back when I thought Macs were the greatest ever. Then the GPU did die. I ended up selling it in like 2017 or 18 because some retard paid like $800.

Yes. And they run fine with it. These will only become obsolete after browsers drop support for the next macOS that isn't even released yet. So in 2033 or something. Imagine using a 20 year old machine in the decade of 2030 and it still feels snappy.

Wangblows 11 can't even do that today, they just killed a bunch of Core 2 Duo PCs.

>>106028678
I don't get it then. Why would an old apple laptop be worth less on the used market than a thinkpad, hp, or dell business laptop? people don't like how hard it is to service the hardware? don't they run linux just fine?

>Do you know if this is more stable than a hackintosh laptop?
Yes, obviously. The Opencorefags design their patcher with each model in mind, finetuning everything for each one so that (most) things will work as they should. With hackintosh you have to handpick everything for your own Frankenstein.

And Intel Apple stuff got devalued HARD in 2020 because the cheapest Mac Mini with Apple Silicon was already trading blows with the most expensive Intel Mac Pro. But most Intel stuff with OpenCore is perfectly usable for anything that isn't graphically expensive today.

If you want an old MacBook Pro for OpenCore instead of a Hackintosh I recommend
>15 Inch 2012 ($100-150)
>15 Inch 2015 ($200 tops)
>13 Inch 2019 (Don't know the price honestly)
The 16 inch 2019 is also good but one of the chips can fry the SSD so maybe not.

Or just get an M1 MacBook air for less than $500.

The fuck? I love Mavericks but you can't be serious... Get a spare SSD with OpenCore Ventura or Sonoma and see how you like it. I'd recommend Monterey too but it recently got cucked out of security updates I think.

2011.
I like the UI better pre-mavericks. I have catalina running on another partition, but again, I don't see the point. There's nothing on modern macs that attract me.
Also, It is SO much more performant on mavericks that it's not even funny. Even better on Mountain Lion (I might reinstall it instead.) Very snappy. The touch gestures are very smooth, to change between programs or to see the desktop, or launch mission control.
Too bad about the browser support though. Youtube is almost impossible to watch, for example.

Cool so it'll run Ventura pretty much flawlessly.
>There's nothing on modern macs that attract me
I think there's ways to visually modify modern macOS to look like Lion-Mavericks
>The touch gestures are very smooth, to change between programs or to see the desktop, or launch mission control
OpenCore is no different, really. Mine's not lagging at all.
>Youtube is almost impossible to watch
You could try Invidious, but that doesn't let you watch age restricted videos.

Seriously man just give Ventura a try. You can just swap the SSDs, no need to nuke your current one.

At work I use a 13" late 2013 which is still decent with Sequoia.

I also have a mid 2010 Mac Mini server which seems slow with modern macOS. It still has a mechanical hard drive, which I would replace with an SSD but Apple made it a pain in the ass to do that.

I had a Hackintosh when core2duo was a thing. Accidentally bought the cheapest components and some ATI gpu. Found out that instead of Vista I could run OSX instead.
It was fun while it lasted. $300 worth of components vs $3000 Apple.

I'm considering getting one of the M4 Macbooks but undecided between Pro and Air, anyone here with experience on both machines?
As I understand, the performance should be roughly identical on both but the Pro gets a better screen and more convenient I/O.

My usecase is pretty much all creative stuff, I compose/record music and do some video editing on the side.

there is no equivalent to macs

macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when pajeetOS runs out of RAM it swapfile rapes the SSD to death within 3 years

just because you're in the 36.5% survivor group doesn't make your currynigger trash any good
