I fucking hate this tech. What is the god damn point???
I fell for the thinkpad propaganda
>>106027247 (OP)all laptops are made in the same factory
>unplugs your fingerprint reader
>plugs in fingerprint reader from the exact same motherboard model configured to my fingerprint instead
>swipe
>done
why would you use this insecure slop
>>106027380Why fuck with all that when you could just use a login bypass with windows 11. A usb stick could do it in seconds.
the issue is that its worthless slop for my own fucking fingers.
>>106027380>not how it worksthose fingerprint maps are stored in the TPM
>>106027247 (OP)i just type my password.
enjoy giving all your biological data to whoever has the keys to the backdoor.
like me for instance, i have the keys to your moms backdoor.
>be me, working in tech
>someone comes in fingerprint reader not working
>sw seems fine, finterprint is setup
>show me what you're trying
SHE'S TRYING TO LOGIN WITH A FINGER SHE HAS NOT SETUP

>>106027868Am I so retarded for wanting a quick way to sign in to my own laptop?
You can fuck my mother all you want if you give me a working fucking fingerprint reader. Backdoor my own ass as a bonus if its just better software I can put on the laptop i already own.
>>106027368That's a thinkpad? It looks like a macbook. And windows 11? I cannot stand modern technology. I would take a 50% performance hit to avoid this.
>>106027247 (OP)Don't use anything that's got built in cameras/mics and you won't have to deal with this garbage either.
>>106027247 (OP)When setting up the finger for the first 3-5 scans (while it just says "scan again" instead of giving directions) scan totally different areas of the finger and press firmly so it would make a map of larger area.
>>106027416login bypass doesn't work with a secure boot + TPM stupid
>>106027247 (OP)For me it's convenience, not security. I just put my finger on my phone and don't have to draw the secret Z pattern to unlock. I imagine for computers it's the same instead of typing 1234 up to however many digits they require.
whatever security methods out there are the same in the end, just a string of hash. if someone could somehow acquire your fingers, they would definitely push them down your throat and force you to write down your password, well if you still have any left to hold a pen.
you're using a macbook pro clone, it probably has a counterfeit fingerprint reader. try using the original device, the fingerprint reader works fine on mine
>>106028796>>106028728Its a thinkpad x9-15 gen1
Almost nothing thinkpad about it except for a very tough case and the typical branding.
>>106029507>apple
>>106027247 (OP)>biometricsyou're glowing so bright my eyes are burning.
>>106030089There's your problem. It's a thinkpad in name only. It's more like a thinkbook/ideapad.

>>106027247 (OP)Back in the day the FBI needed to get a warren to take your fingerprints now you nerd retards can not get enough and need to scan your fingerprints to every retarded mega corporation who sells it to the government for pennies.
This is literal clown world right now!
