This field is hyper competitive and you are easily replaced. I thought immigration to US or EU would be easy with this profession but I tried and it's simply impossible. Fuck I should've picked other one like signal processing for example. And now I'm 35, fuck my life

horse shit, code pissers are easily replaced, swe are not. if current gen chatboxes can do your work then you're a code pissers, if they can't you're most likely an engineer.

you don't pick signal processing, signal processing picks you. it's way harder than you think, try making a modem/dsp yourself and go see me again telling me that's still what you want to do, I can guarantee you it's not.

it's not joever for you my friend, swe it's mostly about knowing how to learn and to apply your knowledge to fix issues, writing the code is the easy part, that's what is automated with these glorified markov chain generators, there will always be the need for people to THINK before, meanwhile and after a project is done, something these tools capped at 128k token of context can't do and most likely won't be able to for a very long while (happy to be proven wrong but given the current trend it's very unlikely to occur before 4 or 5 decades)
