I always thought those tests are mediocre since I'm not a copier, I type out what I think about. The quicker I can form my sentences and type them out, the faster of a typer I am imo.

Yeah I'm the same. I can type my own thoughts significantly faster than copying.
Maybe someone could make a typing speed test for us that allows you to type your thoughts and then it ensures that you aren't just typing nonsense. And then add a scoring system so that you can't game the test by only typing short words.

I used to think this but I realized later that it's cope because it's easier than actually thinking. You are quite literally just measuring your round-trip time from your eyes to your muscles.

Nope. I am that person whose only A in high school was driver's ed. I had a CDL and went down the Pocanoes weighing 40tons at 100mph in 5 inches of snow. I have had to take defensive driving courses to reduce my points on 3 occasions. I am like Mario Andretti but in a Ford Escort LX. I can drive for 48 hours straight only stopping for fuel. I put down 500,000 miles in 2 years. I am that person that will drive 55mph in a 55mph zone and then slam on the brakes if you tailgate me.

It is basically an upper limit on how quickly you can output content, since it's a given that thinking is slower than reading with your eyes

103 wpm
99% accuracy

I learned to type playing quake and everquest between deaths and casts so I still type like an idiot, 4 fingers on my left hand and 3 on my right. I always feel like I should probably learn to type properly but it feels ergonomically wrong and strains my wrist when I do, so I fall back into typing like an idiot.

You retards can just set a stopwatch for 1 min and type what you're thinking in the text field on 4chan.

Save for spacebar, I type with 2 fingers almost the entire time. I did try learning the "proper way" using each finger for specific columns and whatnot but typing like that just hurts, makes me believe that's how people develop carpal tunnel and get calluses on their wrists.

If typing "the right way" hurts then you are probably doing it wrong.
>makes me believe that's how people develop carpal tunnel and get calluses on their wrists
>calluses on their wrists
This makes me think you were resting your wrists on the table while typing which is not a good idea.
Resting your wrists on the table or even on a wrist rest while typing IS how you get carpal tunnel and all kinds of aches and pains.
The "proper" way to do it is with a floating wrist kind of how you would play the piano.
Or you know, you could just type with 2 fingers for the rest of your life.
I don't really think it matters as long as you aren't too slow or getting pain from it.
Honestly I think 80wpm with 97% accuracy is good enough to get by. Even 60wpm with good accuracy is kinda OK.
