>No modern cases come with drive bays anymore
Why is it so hard to find them now?
Anonymous No.106104123 [Report]

Use case, faggot? For storing all your tranime you can simply use NAS (have you heard of it, poor shit?) and external dvd/blue-ray writer.

Man I hope I can get one for myself. Seems like one of those products which gets sold out immediately or never in stock. I just got myself iiyama 510 last year. This is my destiny.

Well, that was the least niche application for it. Unfortunately, no one have ever come up with another application for them that'd be widely accepted.

>fan controllers
Can be controlled by software or a hub, as newer MOBOs come with only 4-pin headers now, anyway.

>USB ports and/or card readers
USB hubs are way easier to use, as the average normie don't mind the slower speeds. And most devices that use SD cards these days also come with a USB port, thus not requiring removing the card from it in the first place.

>audio controllers
Normies don't care, and those in the know just buy external DACs.

>fan mount
No ports in the way means some cases accept even 200mm fans.

>hot-swap HDD enclosures
NAS and external HDD enclosures are more convenient, and normies just put all of their stuff on cloud services.

>screen
Never not a mess of wiring and software setting up for a tiny screen, and some new cases are coming with prebuilt screens that are bigger and easier to set up for those that want them.

>Cup holders, car cig lighters, drawers, analog gauges for audio/CPU/HDD usage and such
Meme gimmicks.

I might actually buy pic related. I have the drive space for it and the mobo ports aren't being used...

>>106107889
I own pic related and I only wish that my motherboard had a native USB-C header instead of having to filter for an adapter card that has the type-E bullshit

Card readers and front/IO upgrades is the BEST use case for having front bays

i think this case is pretty old by now actually, but it should still be available

how hard is it to make your own case, anyway? Surely you could just get some frame and hookups and get a custom wood or stamped metal one made for relatively cheap, right?

Why do you need 5.25in drive bays anyways?
Haven't used one since like 2008.

It's even more annoying for ITX cases, many of them don't even have a 2.5" bay, and a lot of the ones that do seemingly didn't take the cables into account.
>>106110592
5.25" bays can be used for other stuff like card readers and hot-swap bays for hard drives.

un-baysed
Anonymous No.106112823 [Report]
I'm using my 5.25 bays for pic related.

I used to have a nas running, but if you want lots of storage AND virutalization AND containerization AND light llm, you just end up with a server or always on workstation. So I ditched the NAS and run all storage on my workstation. I run a cheap mini pc for my always on needs / dockers.
