Think this deserves its own thread. Windows 11 is absolute hell when it comes to PC networking and sharing. The thing that I need this for, requires other PCs to be able to access files on the main PC share, however more often than not, you get greeted to pic related instead.

I've checked the public/private settings in the control panel, I've even followed things like below where you need to apply some changes to the Services, Registry and if you have Pro, group policy. And also enabling SMB as a feature to tick too.

Still getting nowhere. Unfortunately it's not an isolated incident so it happens with others too.

Can someone give me an actual and fully working solution here? I've had other users manage to get around this, but they always forget to tell me how.

And what to do with Home PCs that can't access Group Policy? I've tried to follow steps to install that but again, get nowhere and just get errors instead.

SMB shares don't work at all with Windows 11 Home. It's not an issue to be addressed, but a purposely removed feature, like Remote Desktop. Dumb as fuck, I know. Bootleg a copy of W11 Pro if you need to stick with W11.

Yes that is already done but when you access the //PCNAME/ it is bringing up the error message.

I thought it works, but you just have to do the bypass to create a local account

Not him but I’m going to assume you’re special needs. Either white list from your windows (app) firewall on the server, or better yet just disable the useless pos.

Microsoft made Windows 11 more secure by closing those connections.

It usually works when you map a network drive and select using different credentials - or don't use a password.

its genuinely brutal. even when i got it working, it needs constant prodding, if its not detected at any point, file explorer freezes up, dialogs freeze up for programs due to cache, and its not worth it anymore on winblows. maybe if you wanna set up wsl or docker volumes or some shit itll be fine but i havent tried that shit

Browsing doesn't really work reliably anymore in "modern" Windows versions, but directly connecting with name/password always works for me.
