It's really bad.
They fucked up the sizing, by cramming the "section title" in to the bar.
When I have my vertical-tab bar open, and there's a title of the section ("changes being made" in OP's picrel), I'm unable to see the last few icons, including "full screen".
Secondly, they took away my belowed Cinema Mode.
It's still there, yes, but the video is now cropped. Heavily. And if you dare to scroll down, to perhaps read some comments, you'll be greeted with suggested videos crap.
Normally I'm not one to hate on changes, because everything new is bad, but this time around they seriously dropped the ball.
The old player was shit, because of the gradient on the bottom, and player-controls always showing when paused, but the new one is 100x worse for the cropped video and suggested BS.
The volume control even got moved a few days ago, so clearly even Google acknowledges that the layout it shit.

it looks somewhat worse than old one, but i couldn't care less. of course as usual vocal minority is gonna cry now though for a while, because any sort of change bad, which is way more annoying than any sort of UI change.
