What do you use ChatGPT for? I use it for studying and to write funny stories.

i use it to ask questions about code or to discover better ways to code. i do not use it to generate code. for that, i use textbooks and my brain. i do not like working with code that i don't understand. btw i am a nocoder with no github projects or open source contributions.

normies, get out of my fourchan reee
I used it to develop [REDACTED].
I'm selling the software. I have a Debian authentication server so that users can purchase the product and login. the program was written in python, then optimized and re-written in C++. (took a lot of tries with deepseek)
the server has a flask API running for authentication. cronjob'd python scripts for subscription management (checking expiry dates) as well as rsync backups. it has a register.php page for users, all inputs sanitized.

it's $10 for 30 days, $50 for a permanent subscription.
every 100 customers = another $1000/month

I pay my taxes.
all of this completely vibecoded. the server? vibe-administrated.
get on my level, you peasants

In no particular order:
>assessing ideas I have
>random thought experiments and queries that pop into my head
>coding emacs stuff I wouldn't know how to do myself
>assisting with my job (webdev)
>venting shit that's pissing me off or upsetting me and have it validated
>helping me understand books I'm reading on a deeper level (does a better job than the preface or annotations because it can have a conversation)
>improve my blog posts
>purchasing decisions (I won't buy blindly from chatgpt recs but it gives me somewhere to start)
>travel planning
>stable diffusion prompt ideas (purely for ideas, it sucks at coming up with the prompts themselves)
>workout progression
>coming up with responses for shit I'm too socially retarded to know myself (eg awkward navigating awkward social situations, work emails, what to write on birthday cards, etc)

I only use it to rewrite bullet points into vaguely threatening legal speech when I wanna bully retards
I'd use a good uncensored model for storytelling if it existed, but as far as I know novelai has the best and it's mediocre
The normieness of gpt et al is insufferable to me, I miss tay

why wait them? you can make a userscript for that. ask gpt to generate script for your own use.

I still need to use something whenever I have questions. If modern search engines are in an unusable state and other humans aren't smart enough, that only leaves LLMs as a realistic option.

Dumb people don't use AI because they're ignorant of their own shortcomings.
Smart people know what they don't know, and use AI to fill those gaps.
