I'm a self-taught, solo programmer and I initialize all of my data structures at the top of the program above the main loop in one giant global glob of code. I assume some people would be disgusted by that, but not a single soul has seen any of the code I have written over the years.

The odd thing is that the program flow in my main loop is very clean and easy to follow, with the inner workings tucked away into functions/classes and logic easy to follow down to the root. For some reason I just scrolled down and never considered tucking away the hideous data setup into a function or object.

Github is a social codewhore site where they compete for attention.
90% of the checkins there are just moving shit around, making READMEs grammatically incorrect, updating variable names, and other meaningless shit.
It might have some worth as a storage site.
