Probably and you can't trust that machine because you don't control it. So uh be careful doing shit that could get you sent to prison for life. Even if you had bulletproof opsec here (you don't) slipping up in some other way could fuck you. Once you go full schizo you realize you lost this game already by default. solely depends on what you'll be doing. if the means with which you bought it can be traced back to you then you can still be pinned with enough determination. if not then your concern becomes it being freely backdoored and you possibly slipping at some point in regards to the activities you're doing on it.

This would only work if you purchased the vps with monero.

If you purchased with money tied to your identity then this is bad opsec as you wouldn't rely on a host not to hand over your identity/logs. They will care about themselves more than you so it's your main point of possible failure.

So ideally purchase via monero (which you buy without KYC) and connect to the vps via tor.

Ideally you also don't use your home wifi and take additional measures to protect against timing attacks.

Ie you connecting tor and vps traffic being correlated over time.

Opsec is hard which is why I dont do illegal shit. Eventually you will fuck up and if you have such talents in a western country you can make plenty of money being legit.

If just doing it for general privacy reasons then its probably good enough.
