my portable ac started smelling weird, I only had it since this summer. tried to clean the filter, drained all the fluid out, took it apart and vacuumed the coils but it still smells weird when its not condensing. this happened once before when I lived in another apartment. (it was fixed ac with exterior vent). I tried to clean it myself but it really stunk bad like socks. Had to call in professionals to clean it every year. thought this shit wouldn't happen with portable ac's if I kept draining the fluid. I'm thinking of trying to spraying vinegar on the fins and into the water drains since its probably mold or something.

Thereโ€™s still standing water in it

HVAC nigger here. 100% a leak somewhere or you didn't clean the filter well enough. Run it with the panel off and see if there's anything dripping.
