Greetings, /g/entlemen.
I'm not a particularly avid poster of this board (or to be quite honest, on 4chan as a whole) in recent years. As amusing and convenient as it would have been to engage other anons by posting a bait thread ("Windows {version} is better than Windows {version}"), I believe that there is an elephant in the room that simply cannot be ignored anymore - the internet may have outlived its original purpose. Although, depending on the severity of the oldfag elitism syndrome, some would pinpoint the doom of the web as far back as having taken place in 1993 when it expanded from an environment exclusive to college students and thorough computer nerds, having become available to wider masses, courtesy of internet providers; regardless, I think that mostly everyone could agree that the state of the web couldn't be considered irredeemable until 2012 and afterwards.
Part 1, more below (I'd post everything in one go but character limits are retarded on this site)
interrupting blog post because fuck you
People are too cowed to do what it would take to stop this.

Part 2.
To demonstrate my previous point, I used to be able to search (on Google!) for the absolute most minutiae trivia regarding any particular subject, and, more likely than not, I would usually get results relevant to the search query. If I wanted something as autistic as, say, a digital scan of a fully flattened box for the LEGO set 10143 (UCS Death Star II), there was a non-zero chance that I would manage to find a high-quality 300DPI scan of that particular item, despite it being adjacent of a relatively obscure ABS plastic model kit. Meanwhile, compare it to what occurs nowadays: you search for a specific component of a mobile phone or a car, with knowledge of their serial number in mind, and the results either give you just links regarding the item the component originates from, OR not even the original item, but a completely different model from the same manufacturer that is tangentially related to the model whose component you wish to find. Mind you, these are mass-produced pieces of technology that are relatively accessible due to the immense volume of copies manufactured, and yet even for them, it is difficult to find derivative info because the relevant results regarding them (assuming they exist in the first place) are clogged under a pile of dogshit ads for web markets and links to articles on entirely AI-generated websites that don't provide a useful answer whatsoever, and only exist to waste time and extract data if possible.
But this isn't about the SEO, however. What is more concerning than the already observed phenomenon of most of the internet traffic conglomerating around 5 to 10 major sites (that also happen to be mostly bot-infested algorithm data-mining farms, à la "Dead Internet Theory"), is the complete lack of interest, or even apathy towards, preserving knowledge - be it technical details pertaining to the subject, or concrete digital archive of it like in case of videogame ROMs, books, music and movies. So not only have forums, personal blogs, Usenet and IRC been absorbed into inferior but much larger alternatives (Discord, Reddit), the whole premise of the netizen activity has switched from "everyone contributes a little" (memes, flash games, amateur YouTube videos etc.) to a much more imbalanced approach of us basically becoming consoomers, eagerly waiting for the slop to satiate the daily dopamine requirement of the brain conditioned to overstimulation via means of centralized social media accounts, and catered feeds stemming from them. Now add on top of all this the emergence of nightmarish parasocial dynamics between retards and AI, them genuinely believing it can replace proper in-person socialization when in reality it comes down to just a sycophantic feedback loop deliberately designed to keep them engaged for as long as possible.
>>106119981 (OP)try writing without joining 18 sentences together so that anyoine can follow your train of thought
>>106119981 (OP)>>106120014>>106120030...I suppose this is all a very long way of saying that internet, as it is today, completely betrays its own initial premise: a robust network for sharing and preserving information. While it is expected that some deviation would have naturally occurred following its expansion from initial academic use-cases, what it ended up as is fundamentally and diametrically opposed to what it was supposed to be. If anything, the sole purpose of the internet nowadays appears to be the spread of falsehood and inadvertent (or to be honest, even intentional) punishment for any archival preservationist efforts, which is only exacerbated by deliberate propaganda and censorship on behalf of malicious interest (((groups))).
I'd like to end on a positive note, but I genuinely don't see how the situation can feasibly improve, especially given recent efforts by would-be despotic tyrants to even further narrow down any redeemable use-case for the internet, that doesn't essentially require a self-dox for every website you visit. What do you guys think can be done about it?
>>106119996Someone has to doompost too
Also, another anon's thread:
>>106094063
Blah blah blah blah wordswordswords
Use the spare time you'll have from the internet becoming locked down and useless to make White babies
>>106120042Illiterate niggers think doing so is reddit spacing.
>>106120004>>106120183>>106120042>>106120235If this was a post from 10 years ago I could at least dismiss these replies as shitty attempts at trolling, but not only do you not contribute to the subject of the thread, you attack me based on ad hocs rather than the context of my posts. You are either retards or feds, and in all likelihood probably both. Go shit up every other thread in the catalog that's the same bait crap posted everyday.
>>106120276All your ideals have nothing to do with how the world works you aging hippie. You can comfort yourself with the knowledge that you were always too stupid to understand.
>>106120276Nigger, you write like a pseudo-intellectual FAGGOT. Get to the fucking point of your post, there's no need for all that exposition. Most of us aren't summerfags like yourself, we're all familiar with the ways everyone's been fucked over on the internet--a few of us are indifferent given the convenience and luxury allotted by modern technology, e.g. AIfags.
>>106120276You either have a solution to the shit you wrote 10 essays about or you don't
I suggest hoarding all the games, porn, blogs, shows, movies, etc you can before the internet gets fully locked down, then, as I said before, use your new free time to produce White babies
The break from reddit will be good for you anyways
