Redhat is by far the worst. They're being sued for open anti-white discrimination. They might as well change their logo to a yarmulke.

If you want chudware then there's Devuan (Debian based without the cancer), Artix (Arch based), Arch itself, or OpenMandriva.

yeah that too, but definitely not shitnux. Shitnux is just cope for being poor and cheap. in fact, most Linux commies are still stuck on x86, use 30$ sbc's, or use other outdated hardware slop. They spent more time playing with their Foss toys and going from one rabbit hole into the next than going outside. Most of them even have severe vitamin d deficiency to the point of developing cancer.

Try installing cinnamon on debian base install and try to get it to work and function exactly like linux mint in under 30 minutes and you'll realize that this statement is wrong. Being a fork doesn't mean a linux distro is less "good" or "the same".

It's not possible. These are two different OS that have different purposes and are not just the same forks. Linux mint is for the beginner and is made to be as easy as possible for everyone with the software manager, printers, update manager.

Debian is for....someone? I really don't know who the desktop versions are for considering they throw in a bunch of bloatware like xthaiterminal and anthy dictionary for zero reason. Even arch doesn't do that. At least arch lets you get the base vanilla desktop and you can choose whatever file manager you want like pcmanfm or thunar

Meanwhile linux mint comes with a driver manager, app store, updater. It's for a specific purpose and its crafted. And that's why linux mint is #1 and why everyone uses it, because its the only competent linux distro.

After trying Mint many times over the years, then Ubuntu with Cinnamon and then just plane Ubuntu and then Ubuntu Studio I have finally settled on Kubuntu as the KDE environment is lightweight and very nice and everything easy seems to have an easier time on Debian based distros so that also helps (Bitwig etc)

Okay, so there's a bunch of things Mint has that are missing from the Debian default package repositories, is that it? You'd have to build them from sources, so it takes more than 30 minutes.
That's certainly a point in Mint's favour, if those are things you're using, but it doesn't change the fact that the only difference between the two distros is the package manager and available packages.

There's a reason why nobody uses anything but mint.

Mint solves all these problems

Sorry but pic related is why mint will always be #1 for linux because they figured out how to make a good GUI OS that isn't jeeted and actually works as an appstore.

it's the only halfway sane choice if you're into autonomy

imagine wanting absolute and total control of your LAN subnet, what packages are being transmitted and received and having the abonomination that is windows involved in that

it's definitely the only choice that'll leave you sane in the long-run, if you fully understand your computer as a digital processing tool

if you're some normie, who happens to also need a computer because of their job, not whose job is computers, linux is overkill and the normie is probably too retarded anyhow

>Wrong. It's only until recently linux mint has actually made a good GUI based distro that actually just werks.
That's probably factually wrong, but one of those
>i'll allow it
kind of statements.

LMDE is an absolutely "good enough" operating system, it feels rock-solid stable in general, like Windows 2000, but has some unpolished tuck-aways, some unconsidered edge cases (though less than your average Linux distro, probably) and feels unoptimized, but correctness is always preferable to speed.

It's like Linux desktop was in a modern Windows 98SE/ME-era (twenty years later), and the current paradigm is something like moving away from the DOS-kernel to the NT-kernel, except in Linux it's more about consolidating the UNIX philosophy (and file structure, i.e. /sbin --> /usr/sbin) into a generalized system moving into the future, instead of the operating-systems-architectural aspects, but the (felt) significance is similar.

Debian 12 defaulting to non-free-firmware is another example of consolidating FOSS-philosophies with the (bleak) reality and picking a suitable compromise.

Exciting times, faggots.

'Pinning' folders seems less portable than exploiting using special characters to prepend file and folder names to list them at the top.
It's not Mint to directly blame, it's because the sorting scheme is being delegated to GTK/"Gnome-Tool-Kit."
Yeah, you-know-who, that's the use-case and all that.

I wrote a custom en-DE.UTF-8 region template (for Debian, on my local system), *including* with a collation scheme that worked for special characters, only for it all to be fucked up by GTK's 'magic-number' collater/sorter (the algorithm that sorts such that 20 comes before 100, even though char('1') < char('2'), in a list of filenames).

So, you see, even if you do EVERYTHING extremely correct, into even doing a goddamn custom region template, it'll still tuck-away some bullshit.

I'm probably just really "exotic," but I think there should be something like en-INTL.UTF-8 using ISO8601, etc. without having to resort to using en-DK; that being said, there are post-code and adress templates TOO, so it HAS to be country specific.
GREAT!

Yeah, no, regional settings goes to MS, credit where credit is due.
