Jellyfin Supremacy General
If you don't have a server with Jellyfin running than what are you even doing? Get outta here.

Unlike plex it doesn´t connect to some servers and you watch your own movies/photos/music in case there´s no internet

This. I've already seen all the good movies and TV shows and they aren't making any more. I use Youtube to listen to music sometimes though.

OP has shit taste

I am using jellyfin but I really don't want to do extra work to make the metadata show up correctly. I set all my libraries to photos and home movies or whatever and I just want to pick shit out of a regular file browser. all those *arr products are a waste of time except prowlarr

But I do anon. I even have live TV setup for my dad to watch baseball and westerns.
If you have the minimum skill level to setup a media server you owe it to your friends or family to have one ready to use, regardless of if they use it or not. Use your skills to improve the lives of the people around you.

I set mine up yesterday and my dad uses it to watch movies in the living room. He said he likes psycho thrillers, and so far has watched Abigail, which he said was garbage, Echo Valley which was better than Abigail and Fractured which was pretty nice. We have been going through the film list together and looking out for ones he might like.
I wanted him to see District 9, but he said he doesn't like anything with monsters and the likes.

>Pic related, why are they too lazy to implement a system where TV shows and Movies can easily exist on the same library. I can search on Netflix and Hulu for movies and shows without changing entire libraries. Studios has never made a movie for an accompanying TV series, right?? It's never annoying to switch libraries to watch the same IP.
>No smart way of linking soundtrack folders to accompanying TV/movie series
>Audio lags behind on some videos for no apparent reason, they work fine on mpv
>Seasonal OVA's are treated the same as clips or featurettes, which are shoved at the bottom with little to no meta data. Or they are shoved into an "special" folder with no meta data because they're too stubborn to use IMBD across the board.
>Fuck TVDBID

The only reason I tolerate and use Jellyfin is because Plex is just that more insufferable.

I love the idea in theory and want to get a jellyfin server one day but stremio+RD is much more convenient for now imo so it's low priority. Everything within seconds without prior hoarding, available wherever I go, all smooth performance and high quality.

The amount of times I lose Internet connection is at most once a years, and not for long. In that time I can use mobile data or just do something else.

Same, the only reason i would make one is for music because Spotify have been acting weird recently and the ceo investing in jewish ai drones isn't helping too

Guarantee half of these home server autists don't even use them most of the time, and the other half still relies on premium streaming services. It's all a big joke.

>the only reason i would make one is for music because Spotify
I don't think there is any service like Jellyfin that is as good for music as Spotify. Which is shocking because Spotify is one of the jankiest pieces of software I have ever used.

>be jellyfin
>can't play mp3 videos just because i just can't okay?
you can tell this shit has some weird faggot like the gnome developer running it.

>playing mp3 videos would mess with my autism so just convert it before i allow you to see it!
>you want to have a library that plays mp3 without video and stuff with video? MY AUTISM STOP
you just fucking use mpv and it works meanwhile jellyfin devs pretend there's a science against it.

I had Jellyfin set up and then removed it. Why would I need an extra server so that I click on a stupid thumbnail?
I just need to click on a movie and that's fucking it.

Plex works without Internet, just access the local IP instead of going through app.plex.tv.
