I checked out lainchan and 2chan but both seemed like poserschizo central. Plumbing the depths of webrings is cool but the content is limited vs social media or even 4 chan. And y'know, most social media sucks so I stick to reels for a quick dopamine hit, 4chan for shitposting, and discord for friends.

Tohno-chan is the only interesting place left for true otaku, albeit no technical discussions akin to /g/. It has a few but active and dedicated regulars, such as myself. It's home. You're just skimming over every altchan at a whim and have stockholm syndrome for this website when there is nothing valuable left here. The same applies for 4-ch.

Japs had a very nice imageboard culture but even that is completely dead and replaced by twitter now according to the few that still post on futaba, which is mainly like 40 year old boomers.

Twitter is god fucking awful if you want an intresting discussion (actually for most things now that I think about it, except dumb drama and maybe memes?), and 4chan has enough infamy to bring people in, even if not really advertised as much. There is a better place that I use for discussing a very specific topic centered around a single specific thing that has over 100 IPs per thread and the place is really wholesome and fun. Unfortunately I still have to come back to this shithole for everything else, but sometimes I don't even feel like browsing 4chan for numerous days because I just like chilling out there so much
