I bought WinZip. 36 bucks for a year, what a steal. How can Winrar even stay in business?

Use free software? If it sounds cheap it probably is cheap. Paid software has more effort being put in so it's better, and has better support

nigger, literally the only thing that WinRAR offers from 7-zip is recovery records, which in itself is mostly a meme and there's free software that can do this too.
Plus .7z is literally second place in most effective compression algorithms (second to zpaq)
