This is related to the packages mounted on the system. You see, TinyCore does not have a persistent /, only /home or manually selected folders. Mounting each extension consumes a small amount of memory, in exchange for having a completely fail-safe system.

The problem with small distros is they might use less RAM but if the CPU is dog shit it's still going to run like horse shit.
