Someone once told me that British people wash their dishes in soapy water... then put them straight into the drying rack.
Is that you?

I tried everything and the solution I came to was washing it once or twice in shampoo and then after that just getting a new one from aliexpress.

the chink ones look different and the real replacements are too expensive in my opinion so i have kept washing my original pads for 7 years

i like the velvet pads better than any of the stiff material ones, so they are still in tact. the only damage is the inner ring having some tears

I sure am glad there are no headphones that sound good enough to deal with this bullshit.

sodium hydroxide directly attacks it and the resulting product is water soluble so it leaks out of the foam into the water, turning it white.

How is this better than soaking a detergent and rinsing them out.

I'm going to be honest with you
If this is even necessary for you, it's because you're a sweaty fatass.
I've never needed to wash my headphone pads once in my life because I don't sweat and my face isn't covered in grease. They don't smell and they don't have any stains.

detergents carry oil, that is why laundry machines do multiple rinses to get most of the oil out of clothes. caustic chemicals remove the oils in a single pass. that's why people still use ammonia to clean sometimes
