Why does no one care? There isn’t a decent iPad or android tablet with a PPI around that of an iPhone? Do people just not care? The same is true of MacBooks and other laptops. This entire generation isn’t holding companies to a higher standard? Why? How do no people care about PPI? Its pixels per inch? If I want a display with good PPI I shouldn’t have to buy a fucking VR headset. It fucking sucks dude. Is no one going to do anything about it? Do consumers just not care?

As panel size increases, so does the viewing distance.
With a 27" monitor you may be 13.5" away but for a 65" TV you need at least 32" distance to properly see it and do to that you can no longer discern finer details. Meanwhile a VR headset is right in front of your eyes and has to be as sharp as possible.

Diminishing returns. Your eyes won't see any difference between 4k and 8k for a 15 inch screen at normal viewing distances.
Also power consumption would be ludicrous, battery life will suffer a lot.
And gpu power won't scale to deliver smooth smooth scrolling at that resolution.

High DPI is great but 500 is excessive. Around 300 is good enough. On my phone I can't even tell the difference between full resolution and the lower res power saving mode.

I use a 42" OLED TV as a computer monitor. It's my arm's length from my eyes.

Mac's and iPads are settled on a 218-260ppi range as "Retina" class as they are viewed 18-36 inches+ away vs the phone that is usually within 12-24 inches of the eyes, hence the boost to 326-460 ppi. Hell, even a 32" 6K has 220 ppi, man, and that's the best we have to look forward to until 8k 32" are reasonably available, and that's only jumping from 220ppi with 6k 32" to 275 ppi with 8K 32". The tablets are the least of our issues. Is the performance and battery cost of the iPad Pro running at 3840x2880, worth the PPI gain up to 330-370? probably not.
