reminder that switching from samsung to tsmc was the reason for the 40 series performance gains

>switching from samsung to tsmc was the reason for the 40 series performance gains
Yeah, because 30 series were manufactured in 8nm and 40series were manufactured in 5nm

>6000 series will be as bad as 5000 series
So who will be the competitor to capitalize on this? Will AMD be able to maintain their value proposition beyond launch day? Will Intel learn from the mistake of canceling B780?

samsung 8 was way worse than tsmc 7, so it was more like 2 node shrinks

No one
This means one if two things
>Nvidia wants to move GPUs
>they just want more money and can't have pesky gayming GPUs eating up wafers for AI parts
Either way its not good.
Nvidia is dominating despite being wafer constrained, to not be wafer constrained while being exceedingly good at silicon efficient designs and being on a cheaper node (presumably), means Nvidia is going to have such insane margins to play with.

Intel and AMD won't be competitive. They only way they could is if Samsung is really shitty.

I wouldnt even trust a samsung gpu while knowing their phones are absolute shit. Dont expect anything good from them, it will probably be a mediatek gpu with 3 fans taped to them.

Yes, so granted that reality is real, who will be the competitor to capitalize on this?

it only seems that way because similar to the 40 -> 50, the 10 -> 20 was basically the same node

AMD would have to throw completely
They're in the best position they've ever been to make a monster GPU with their chiplet designs and architecture reunification
They can make big shader dies without wasting them on only gamer markets now

It won't matter if Nvidia can just drive prices down
You can't expect a regression from 50 series, even if performance was unchanged Nvidia will have all the advantage in supply.

How this is gonna go is that Nvidia will either retain their dollar amount margins while selling a cheaper GPU, or Nvidia will use the cheaper GPUs to buff their margins even further.
Anything AMD or Intel can put out can be made uncompetitive as Nvidia can lower prices to almost whatever it wants while the others are a bitch to TSMCs allocation and pricing.

That assumes AMD wants to use its wafers it has to GPUs.

Make them fucking smaller
More VRAM
Cute out all the way tracing and DLSS bullshit if it makes the cards smaller
People can't fit them in their cases so they don't sell

So you're saying we can get the 1080 back? That's a good thing.
