By 26 iPhones, the chances that the user was holding some of them wrong do naturally increase. Apple recommends a maximum of 12.

I'm puzzelled.
She was coming from three country corner, where Argentina+Paraguay meet Brasil. I assume she's smuggling the phones in from one of those BUT once she's in Brasil, she could unstrap herself from the fucking things. Shes already 12 hours on a bus inland, she'd need another 3 days to cross Brasil on bus - why the fuck didn't she take them off? I'm not sure I'd survive 12 hours of this shit either desu.

And if the smuggling problem is serious, the police probably check luggage randomly, so it's not a good idea to put them all in your bag or w/e
As for the cause of death, I'd guess it was overheating. 26 phones glued to you, plus clothes long and thick enough to conceal them, plus long ride in a shitty bus with weak or no AC, plus Brazilian weather in the middle of summer

We dont really know that. Everyone is more sick now. For all we know the radio waves interact with chemicals that get in our body from the food we eat. The amount of times something was "safe" because no one would pull their head from their ass long enough to actually look and see but later it turned out it really wasn't is like all the time.

My dad worked in telecom for a long time and he hates this conspiracy nonsense. He has worked around machines that output kilowatts of "radiation", your cellphone doesn't even compare with its milliwatts of output. He's fine. Funny story he told me: He was on a project where they put a new cellphone tower on a nearby island. Immediately they started getting complaints from people who claimed it was making them sick. They hosted a meeting with all these people where they voiced their concerns, and then my dad's colleague said "well, it must get really bad then when we turn it on!". The tower wasn't even emitting anything yet.

Maybe she wasnt smuggling iphones to resell at all.

If she glued 26 iphones to her body, she was probably having mental breakdown, thinking the iphones were protecting her in some way. She also probably stole them to create the iphone armor. The cellphone waves canceled out the 5g rays attacking her or something. Anyways she probably forgot to eat and drink water and had a bunch of other undiagnosed things

I remember watching some streamer have a mental break, took a drug and he didnt remember the next 3 days. He went to some park then got into a strangers car and asked them for a ride, made it home, tore up his own house and wrote nonsense on the walls

it's like 1/5th cheaper in paraguay, because no import taxes.
which, if you buy it 1/5th cheaper and then sell it at market price in brazil, you have that as your profit.
even 26 iphones would only work out to a 18k brl profit, *if* she managed to sell at market price (which is unlikely because for market price you're buying from a reputable big name shop with a warranty and customer protections, not from a smuggler).
questionable business she was running

SO, around $3000 USD / 26 = $115, the 'I am not exactly the Apple store' discount over retail of at least $50, she'd maybe be clearing $1500 after expenses. Which, taking into account risks of sudden death, getting robbed or caught and then your investment capital swiftly turning into a very large minus indeed..
No life for a 20 year old kid. I hesitate to recommend smuggling coke etc as career choice for the yoof. But the risk/reward is off the scale, compared to this nonsense.

mind that the risk of sudden death doesn't really exist; like anon mentioned in a different post you're taking a full-reclining-seat air conditioned bus back home. it's not exactly the mexico border crossing experience.
i've been to paraguay twice myself, since i have family in Foz do Iguaรงu. it's a completely normal and mundane experience. you go into fancy shopping malls, buy your shit at a discount, then leave.
this person 100% had some undiagnosed medical condition. (other than subpar business acumen. i really don't see the business case for smuggling that many iphones for so small a profit margin)

She was coming from Ciudad del Este, in Paraguay. It's the smuggling capital of South America, there are entire markets of smuggled goods where you can get phones from cheap (most of them stolen). Her goal was probably to resell them at a higher price in Brazil.

Here in Argentina, there is a saying, if you have your phone stolen, you can probably buy it back in Ciudad del Este kek. Immigrants come from Paraguay, steal shit here, and then resell it there. And of course the people that go to shop there are also at fault because they sustain that ""industry"".

>>106149301

BTW there are also free trade zones in other parts of South America. Iguazu has a free trade zone. Ushuaia has a free trade zone. I believe there are some in Brazil as well.

Yet nowhere shit is as cheap as in Ciudad del Este. Why? Because it's stolen and smuggled shit not just because of the tax free status.

No, it makes a lot of sense. This is South America my friend. Subhumans are more than willing to buy a second hand phone with no charger and don't care where it comes from if it means they get to show off that Apple logo. Even at discounted prices (due to no charger and not boxed in) that woman was going to make a neat tidy profit.

They also sell some legit phones in Ciudad del Este, but obviously this is not the case here.

>>106150378
Apple products are really expensive because of import taxes on technology meant to favor local industry. Other phones too, but less so, because Samsung, Huawei, and other manufacturers caved in and opened local factories to "assemble" the products from China and skirt the taxes that way since that way it counts as a local manufacture. But Apple never caved in to that.

>the iphones were not glued to her body, she had plastic wrapping around her body, the phones were wrapped in the plastic

yeah this is looking less like simple smuggling and more like some ellaborate illegal fuckery was going on. why would you smuggle phones wrapped in plastic around your body? that's how you move drugs, not phones

Yeah, but were they old or new?
Wrapping the phones in plastic, to prevent sweat etc contamination, then taping all that shit to yourself with cellophane wrap, to securely attach, is the tried and trusted method of smuggling anything, as just werks. Unfortunately however, while this maybe fine for a 1kg flatpack of Pepsi or locally available equivalent, 26 fucking iPhones requires a large surface area. And accordingly, so much cellophane wrap that you'll cook like a chikken, especially when stuck on a fucking bus for 12+ hours. AC or no AC. Theres got to be easier ways to make a living and this shit very def. could kill you.

Yeah, as discussed >>106149430 the profit if they were new would be (in best case) maybe $1500. And if they were 2nd hand/stolen, I'm not sure why South American iphones aren't subject to icloud locks etc like every other iphone on the planet. Basically if you are gonna go to the hassle of kidnapping some kid and forcing them to smuggle goods across the border, 26 iphones is maybe not the most profitable contraband. That this wasnt maybe all her idea, yeah, no doubt. But whoever trussed her in multiple layers of saran and itrash while telling her not to remove it, then sent her alone across brasil by bus, belongs in jail for murder imo. Absolute fucking retards.

No, the biggest risk is getting caught by the customs official, getting the phones seized, and being killed by the person you were smuggling them for.
Second biggest risk is apparently dying on the bus while carrying the product

I'm not sure if you're brazilian or not, but here's how that'd work normally:
>buy 26 phones in paraguay (no criminal conspiracy, just going to one of the shops and buying them)
>take your comically large bags of iphones to the bus / car
>go to brazil
SCENARIO 1:
>you drive in your car past the border, you're home free
>you're in the bus, chilling, bags/boxes in the cargo hold, your bus isn't stopped for a random inspection, you're home free
SCENARIO 2:
>customs officer doesn't like your face, your car gets chosen for a random inspection, customs officer looks at you with a disappointed expression, you are now due a fucktillion reais because you went past the 500 usd limit
>customs officer doesn't like your bus' face, they inspect the cargo hold, find 26 iphones in one bundle, you are now due a fucktillion reais because you went past the 500 usd limit
and no normal criminal organization would smuggle 26 iphones through a mule. she was probably doing it for her own business. it's simply not a big enough profit margin for it to be organized crime. you'd be looking at a truck driving through backroads carrying 1000s of phones instead
