>europoor devs are so underpaid, we get real salaries in the US
>I just accidentally forgot to mention that it’s $4000 a month more expensive to live here
>>106143145 (OP)Why is their bread so much more expensive? Also in the end US devs make more money, but have way lower job security. Germans tend to favor stability over high earnings.
just make w*men pay for your meals (or old men if you're a gay twink i guess)
>>106143292because what they call “bread” in America has no comparison in europe because it would be considered a cake
>>106143392you mean how your food is forbidden in europe because its quite toxic
imagine paying 5 fucking dollhairs for a loaf of processed bread
>>106144372europoors can actually afford their bread, anon
>>106143145 (OP)ah yes the bogus price argument
it's something one expects from poor farmers in the midwest burying their head in the sand. sadly it seems the europeans are as dumb as flyovers or are willfully engaging in self delusion
>>106144496yeah, totally bogus
in the meantime, pay 3k for renting a room, goy
>>106144175The cheaper loaves of bread in America are so full of HFCS that they meet the criteria of a cake in the rest of the world. That’s why they had to find a real loaf of bread and it ended up costing $5 because everything below $5 is a fucking cake.
>>106144372 We blow out candles on cakes, but we don’t call cakes “bread” like the USA.
>>106144641these things have less floors than the zigger apartments
no wonder muttmerica is such a jewish scam
>>106143145 (OP)>>106143145 (OP)>$15 USD for a Maccas mealWhat the fuck, that's $23AUD. A large big Mac meal costs $13 in Melbourne.
>>106145923european cakes have real sugars unlike usa where it's just corn syrup
>>106146633but then I'd have to put my phone down and be productive
>>106143145 (OP)I make 130k USD and my living costs are a fraction of the US (I live in Southern Europe).
However, my taxes are nearly 40%!!!!!!!
>>106143292Because bread in Germany is fantastic.
People always sleep on German cuisine but its contribution to bread alone makes it top-tier.
>>106145923It's all carbs, retard, is this really all you can find to be proud of?
>>106147008That's true. Some immigrants are shocked at how much variety in bread we have.
>>106143145 (OP)meh, even with that difference, americans earn way more. in Europe, $100k is a solid salary for a senior dev. it already is much less than in US, and then you get tax-raped on top of that so this guy
>>106145855 can freeload, and experiment with his sexuality for 5 years. but I'd still rather not see crap like
>>106143324 on my way to work.
I make $3500/mo after deductions as senior dev in south america
mortgage: $800
kid's school: $400
groceries: $500
car payment: $500
bills: $300
so overall i get to "save" around $1k a month. I think it's pretty good.
>>106147130wow a thousand dollars, you can buy a Tectoy Sega Master System with that
What also isn't taken into consideration is working hours and benefits.
In Europe I worked 32 hours a week (considered full time) of which 24 hours were from home. I got 10 weeks paid off a year. Fully covered health care, pension fund that matched my salary. About $120,000 in total compensation. About $20,000 a month was left for saving after expenditure (tax, rent, utilities, car, food, entertainment etc)
Now in California I make almost double ($220,000) in compensation. But I work 60 hours a week, have 2 weeks paid off. No covered health care, pension fund is 401k bullshit. After all expenditures I have $80,000 left for savings which is still substantial.
I sometimes wonder if 4x the amount of savings is worth effectively working twice as much a year. Honestly I'm not sure.
Europe felt like a continuous holiday, everyone is happy, no crime, dating was extremely easy and the women were high quality, educated and open minded.
In the US I basically have to drive everywhere, see homeless people and shady people constantly. You have the most insanely ignorant people ever. Women are an absolute joke, ironically because the US isn't feminist enough.
Why didn't I stay in Europe then? Because after Trump was elected it was kind of unbearable. Constant shaming and people looking down on me in spite of me clearly not being a trump supporter. America is a place if you want to make money and don't care about anything else. It's not a place to actually live and raise a family. Europe is the opposite. It's almost a permanent holiday resort. Everything is chill and just perfectly made for a nice chill life and raising a family but it's impossible to actually be productive. Some colleagues even worked just 1 or 2 days a week and 100% from home. They didn't care they only made $40,000 because minimizing the amount of work and maximizing fun was what they cared about. Europe is amazing for that.
>>106147291What's really crazy in the US is the unpaid overtime culture.
Remember when companies were crying about "quiet quitting"?
I thought that meant people would stop doing any work and just ghosting the company but I was shocked when I learned that quiet "quitting" just meant doing your job but not doing any unpaid overtime.

>>106147291>Why didn't I stay in Europe then?Don't care; good riddance.
>>106143292I don't know if you realized, but 'muricans, from all what I've heard, don't even have proper bakeries. In Germany every village has one, 'muricans by some slop toast from Walmart and call it a day.
>>106147321>I learned that quiet "quitting" just meant doing your job but not doing any unpaid overtime.haha what the fuck, i thought that meant just not showing up one day too
>>106144496Bait post. Badly constructed to. You can do better anon.
>>106147339Opposite. I expect women to be my equals andhold their own intellectually during talks. Women in the US know nothing about anything yet they want to be treated like they are kids. They aren't feminist enough. They still think of men as the a provider and their job just being pretty. Euro women has substance to the and we're actual individuals. I'm not interested in dating an entitled fuck doll.
>>106147446Stay in your shithole though
>>106147463I'm American and work in California, didn't you read my post? I lived and worked in Europe for 5 years since covid hit.
>>106147469Saying European women are more intellectual and thus better partners is an incel talking point?
>>106147496>Saying European women are more intellectual and thus better partners is an incel talking point?Yes. You're already insufferable enough, no need to double up on pseudo-intellectualism. I'd suggest testosterone patches and/or lifting. It'll do wonders for your dating life and feelings of insecurity (the root of all pseudo-intellectualism).
>>106146346>AUDHey question, I'm living in Adelaide and finding it extremely hard to get by recently. Is that the same case over in the Eastern states?
I know I earn shit because I work in the public sector (although I'm lucky to even be working full time, as I'm a sperg and never performed well in job interviews) however I've learned to be quite frugal over time, so when my role got upgraded from 60k to 75k/yr it was a really big deal. Which immediately got eviscerated by the cost of living increases: Rent in my area is now like 800 a week, in alignment with houses here now costing 800k minimum anywhere within a ~1.5 hour drive of the city. And that's a real problem because one of the ways I've been able to reduce my expenses is by not having a car.
I have some money saved, but not the 100k you need for a down payment and nor is my income sufficient for a mortgage on any of these places. Also I got a relatively late start in life (am about to turn 34) so a 30 year mortgage is not ideal.
Is there anything I can do here, or am I just fucked?
>>106147090You also have much more job security, free health care, free child care, free schooling for your kids, etc. So yes, on paper people in the US earn more, but then they have to pay out the ass for everything. I know multiple people that have moved back to Europe from very high paying jobs in the US and they all say they either have just as much or more money after all the expenses.
>>106147647This will probably make you more depressed, but I have a house ($400k mortgage and house is worth ~$800k) two kids and make around $140k before tax. I have almost no money left over these days. 5 years ago I was saving money without trying but these days it just evaporates. And being ultra frugal does help because all the base items (mortgage, insurance, rego, groceries) are expensive as fuck. There's nothing to cut back on.
>>106143292American "bread" has so much sugar in it that it's legally pastry in Europe.
>>106147853>This will probably make you more depressedNah, it's OK; glad to hear you're managing to stay afloat, especially given you have kids.
The thing that frustrates me the most about all this, if you'll indulge me one final gripe, is that my job/role pays ~20% more if I lived in Melbourne. Like there's naturally very intense resistance to the idea of giving out any kind of pay raise when everyone is trying to reduce costs, but SA only has its dingy little service economy- and it's been flooded by interstate investment from parties with significantly more capital, causing inflation of housing prices to a degree where they're costing as much as in places that actually matter (ie. Melbourne). And as a local I'm kind of stuck, because I can't compete against eg. a corporate landlord offering above the asking price, or someone from Sydney planning to WFH, but nor can I really afford to move. Just kinda stuck (in fucking Adelaide).
