That could be said for many consumer goods that are slightly refreshed every year. Cars, guns, most consumer electronics, subscription services, new gimmicks at taco bell. They're all just mechanisms to make a profit.
I still have my Pixel 5a, I might be interested in a Pixel 10 knowing its not any better than a Pixel 9 but if I keep my phone for 3-5 years at a time before I break it or the battery is useless, I imagine there are many people like me on that refresh cycle and not everyone buys at the same time so its not like manufacturers can just wait every 2-5 years to make a phone. They want people buying [product] today to influence others to buy [product] tomorrow.
